A Sampling of Favorite Moments from 2016

Well another year has come to an end (yeah, yeah, we know that happened like 5 weeks ago) and we're left feeling like we have no idea where the time went. In an attempt to make some sense out of the last 12 months and get an idea of what sort of work we were producing, we went back through the images we made and picked out some of our favorite photos. Does this collection of photos truly capture all of our favorite moments from this year? Absolutely not. Not even close. This was whittled down from about 500 photos...which was already hard. And in hopes that we wouldn't leave you scrolling for all of 2017, we tried our best to just share a sampling of all the great moments that blew our minds this past year. Our 2016 was filled with so much joy and beauty. We are infinitely grateful to everyone who trusted us to tell their stories through the art of photography. Thank you all so much for opening up your lives to us.  Thanks for looking!

Jessica and Jamie: Destination Wedding Photography, Santa Barbara, Cabrillo Arts Center

Jessica and Jamie really know how to celebrate. Their wedding wedding was far from typical. On Friday night they gathered with a handful of their closest friends and family and spent the evening riding through Santa Barbara in a trolley and completed the night at the Wine Cask for a beautiful dinner. The next day, they threw a party for 200 more friends at the beach. Unbeknownst to the guests, Jessica and Jamie had arranged to have a judge marry them on the sand in front of the Cabrillo so they could still have a private wedding while their friends watched. You could definitely tell by the way this group celebrated that Jessica and Jamie have a whole lot of supportive friends. At about 11pm, everyone took shots. We took shots of the shots.

Jamie and Jessica: Engagement Photos, Santa Barbara Courthouse, Isla Vista, CA

This was a super fun engagement session. Jamie and Jessica came down from the San Francisco area to spend an afternoon with us in Santa Barbara. It was so fun to get to know them and hear about how their relationship started out 12 years ago when they were students at UC Santa Barbara. We explored the grounds of an awesome courthouse and then finished up on the coast right in front of the dorm where it all started. The circle of life? Maybe.

Karissa and Jonas: Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding, CA

Karissa and Jonas are both artists with a serious sense of personal style. Karissa spent much of her childhood in China and she used a lot international inspiration for her wedding day. She designed her own dress after 1999 Coco Chanel and coupled it with a 20 foot silk sari for her train. The day was full of artistic details including a gold-dipped bird skull boutonniere, a traditional chinese tea ceremony, and their amazing 50s chevy get away car. The ceremony was held in the Mural Room in the historic Santa Barbara courthouse - a beautiful cathedral-style room with restored paintings covering the walls. The reception was an intimate event held at the Opal - a local Santa Barbara restaurant - with amazing food and ambiance. Beyond being unique and artistic, Karissa and Jonas are genuinely great people and their wedding day was truly a joy to be a part of.  We hope you enjoy!
