Chesley and Luke: Santa Paula Engagement Photos, Glen Tavern Inn

Well things have really come full circle for us. Almost 7 (crazy to think) years ago we got married and had our reception at the Glen Tavern – a historic hotel that is rumored to be super haunted. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when we met Chesley and Luke there for some engagement photos. It was such a blast getting to know them and hanging out in one of our (and their) favorite places. We had thought we might get rained out on the session so we planned on the Glen Tavern because we figured if we had to shoot inside the whole time, it would be just fine. Long story short, the rain stopped and we got the photograph in some foggy hills that would make you think you were in Scotland…even though we were still just about an hour from LA.

Tricia and Warren: Pasadena and Downtown LA Cityscape Engagement Photos

At the start of the new year, we finally got the chance to meet Tricia and Warren in person after many an e-mail, skype video, and phone call. All four of us geared up to get wet and muddy on what was supposed to be a rainy day in LA. Instead, we got one of the most perfect west-coast evenings that anyone could have asked for. We met these two at Copa Vida in Pasadena for a latte and later made our way to Griffith Park. We played around at the tennis courts where Warren and Tricia both played in high school and then hiked our way up to grab a view of DTLA while the sun set.

Let us tell you, this was one of the best ways we could have asked to start off 2017. Though Tricia and Warren were both nervous (as most everyone is in front of a big camera), their trust in us and willingness to play and enjoy each other inspired us more than anything. We had such a blast getting to know them and photographing their love story that we stayed out way past sunset and enjoyed the city lights together.

We can’t wait to meet up with these two again at their wedding this August. Enjoy!

Chelsea and Alex: Engagement Photos, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, CA

We’re so happy that we can call Chelsea and Alex our friends. That, combined with the fact that they are great at frolicking together through green fields in golden sunlight, means that we pretty much had the best time ever on their engagement session. We seriously couldn’t get enough. Too much of this California drought has made us appreciate this blossoming spring season all the more – it was pure magic in the hills. These two are deeply in love and the decision they’ve made to serve one another for the rest of their lives is inspiring. We can’t wait to see their families and friends come together to share in their promise at Chelsea’s home this summer. Cheers!

Jake and Sabrina: Engagement Photos, San Francisco, Muir Woods, Marin County, Sightglass Coffee, Rain, Destination Wedding Photographer

Jake and Sabrina are like two peas in a pod. That’s not to say they are vegetables or anything…it’s more a reference to the closeness of their relationship and the kindred-ness of their spirits. Ya I’m no word-smith but these two are awesome. They invited us up to San Francisco to join them at some of their favorite spots. Even the incessant downpour couldn’t cast a gloom on how much fun we had. We spent the better part of the day exploring and photographing around the city and across the Golden Gate Bridge in the Muir Woods. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jake and Sabrina and are so excited to be photographing their wedding in the mountains later this year. Enjoy some liquid love.

Rachel and Brent: Engagement Photos, Funk Zone, Santa Barbara wedding photographer

Say hello to Rachel and Brent. They like to play board games, they’re super silly together, and they are clearly going to have a very happy life together. We spent a wonderful afternoon with them drinking beer, chasing sea gulls and exploring the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara. Take a gander.

Zach and Loretta: Portraits, Vasquez Rocks

Sometimes when you need a little inspiration, it’s a good idea to take some friends out to the desert and see what happens. That’s just what we did…and here is what happened. Zach and Loretta are great people and we’re lucky to call them friends. Here are few portraits of their faces/bodies.

Andrew and Jenn: Engagement Photos, Griffith Park, Abandoned LA Zoo

We are so excited to photograph Jenn and Andrew’s wedding in a couple weeks at the Smog Shoppe in LA. Especially after we got to see how awesome they are in front of the camera during their engagement shoot. We spent the evening exploring an abandoned zoo. Who knew that old animal cages would have such killer light? It was a serious playground for us. Their may have been a few animal ghost encounters but we all came out unharmed. These two have a super dynamic look and we knew we’d come out with some killer shots. They didn’t disappoint. The best moments were when they got slightly embarassed with a camera so close to their face and then starting cracking up. Their wedding can’t come soon enough…and I’m sure they feel the same way.

Kimi and Andy: Engagement Photos, Redondo Harbor, CA

Shortly before we headed to Catalina Island to watch these two lovely people get married, we had the distinct pleasure of meeting them at the Redondo harbor for a bit of an adventure. They took us out on their sailboat and the evening couldn’t have been more picturesque. Some good wind blew away the cloud cover for some epic sunlight right at the end. We were so excited to get to know Kimi and Andy and we’re super excited to share their wedding with everyone very soon. Until then, enjoy some nautical goodness.

Michelle and Anthony: Engagement Photos, Pasadena, CA

We had the awesome opportunity to spend the afternoon with Michelle and Anthony. We met them at the amazing Arroyo Seco park in Pasadena for some hangout and photo taking time. What we didn’t realize before getting there was this park is home to the “roving archers”…which is exactly what it sounds like. There were a bunch of people roaming around with bows and arrows and we are more than a little afraid for our own skin. Fortunately the only things we came out with were some good images and some new friends. Watch your back if you ever go to this park.

Keith and Michelle: Engagement Photos, Ventura, CA

We were so happy we got to meet Michelle and Keith before their Mammoth wedding this summer. We got to tromp around our favorite spots in Ventura and made some killer photographs together. Any shoot that involves tree climbing is a winner in our book. We can’t wait to see these two awesome love birds again up in the mountains.
