Chesley and Luke: Santa Paula Engagement Photos, Glen Tavern Inn

Well things have really come full circle for us. Almost 7 (crazy to think) years ago we got married and had our reception at the Glen Tavern – a historic hotel that is rumored to be super haunted. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when we met Chesley and Luke there for some engagement photos. It was such a blast getting to know them and hanging out in one of our (and their) favorite places. We had thought we might get rained out on the session so we planned on the Glen Tavern because we figured if we had to shoot inside the whole time, it would be just fine. Long story short, the rain stopped and we got the photograph in some foggy hills that would make you think you were in Scotland…even though we were still just about an hour from LA.

A Sampling of Favorite Moments from 2016

Well another year has come to an end (yeah, yeah, we know that happened like 5 weeks ago) and we’re left feeling like we have no idea where the time went. In an attempt to make some sense out of the last 12 months and get an idea of what sort of work we were producing, we went back through the images we made and picked out some of our favorite photos. Does this collection of photos truly capture all of our favorite moments from this year? Absolutely not. Not even close. This was whittled down from about 500 photos…which was already hard. And in hopes that we wouldn’t leave you scrolling for all of 2017, we tried our best to just share a sampling of all the great moments that blew our minds this past year. Our 2016 was filled with so much joy and beauty. We are infinitely grateful to everyone who trusted us to tell their stories through the art of photography. Thank you all so much for opening up your lives to us.  Thanks for looking!

Chelsea and Alex: Engagement Photos, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, CA

We’re so happy that we can call Chelsea and Alex our friends. That, combined with the fact that they are great at frolicking together through green fields in golden sunlight, means that we pretty much had the best time ever on their engagement session. We seriously couldn’t get enough. Too much of this California drought has made us appreciate this blossoming spring season all the more – it was pure magic in the hills. These two are deeply in love and the decision they’ve made to serve one another for the rest of their lives is inspiring. We can’t wait to see their families and friends come together to share in their promise at Chelsea’s home this summer. Cheers!

Josh and Mia: Omni Resort and Spa, Barton Springs, Austin, Texas – Destination Wedding Photographer

We met Josh at a wedding we photosgraphed in Portland about 3 years ago. When he first met us, he said that if he ever got married he wanted us to photograph his wedding. The day finally came where he was going to proclaim his vows to Mia and so he called us. I must say, it made us feel pretty special. So we packed up our camper and trekked ourselves out to Austin, TX to party with Josh and Mia at the Omni Resort and Spa, Barton Springs.

These two and their beautiful daughter, Eloise, have formed a beautiful little family that is truly supported and loved by all those around them. Peter and I had a bit too much fun photographing with the stormy Texas skies (we get a little tired of So Cal Sunshine) – also, Josh and Mia both have a smolder that can seriously light a fire in your camera lens. Beware. These Austin folks were great at celebrating. I’m not sure if it was the mac-and-chese bar, the glow sticks, or the funky vibes of the killer live band but the party was definitely going strong all night.

We felt so very honored to be at this wedding and we can’t thank the bride and groom and their sweet families enough. They welcomed us with open arms and so much happiness. Enjoy the photos!

Buddy and Priscilla: Santa Barbara Wedding Photographer, Courthouse, Elopement, Civil Ceremony

There are a lot of moments as a wedding photographers where we get let in on moments so special and intimate it almost seems like we shouldn’t be there. This was definitely the case with Buddy and Priscilla. They decided to elope at the (stunning) Santa Barbara courthouse and tell their friends and family later. We were the only witnesses and really the only ones (besides the court clerk) who can even verify that it happened. Well let me tell you: Buddy and Priscilla got married and here is the photographic proof. It was such an honor to be there to witness their union we and wish them all the best in their life together. Thanks to our good friend Jenn for the amazing flowers – she kills it. Enjoy!

Amanda and Ryan: Palm Springs Wedding Photographer, Ace Hotel and Swim Club

Amanda and Ryan brought their family, friends, and party faces out to the magical Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. This wedding had so much style and it was beautifully pulled off by an amazing team of artists who made the day feel effortless: floral designs by Dainty Lion, rentals by Witty Rentals, hair and makeup by Amy Clarke, and planning by Beau and Arrow Events. Amanda designed her own dress because she is basically a fashion genius and as you can tell from his smolder, Ryan is a man among men. The party was an absolute blast thanks to tunes spun by the Flashdance and to all the guests who know how to get down. The night was topped off with a glorious polar bear dip in the pool – couldn’t have thought of a better ending ourselves.

Zach and Loretta: Portraits, Vasquez Rocks

Sometimes when you need a little inspiration, it’s a good idea to take some friends out to the desert and see what happens. That’s just what we did…and here is what happened. Zach and Loretta are great people and we’re lucky to call them friends. Here are few portraits of their faces/bodies.

Jamie and Case: Ventura Wedding Photographer, Private Estate

One of our all-time favorite types of weddings is the “backyard wedding.” This particular wedding happened in the front yard but it still counts. Jamie and Case said their vows surrounded by only their family and closest friends overlooking the coastal town of Ventura. There was a ton of amazing food, happy tears shed, and general merriment. It was so beautiful to see how both of the families came together to support the new couple. It was obvious hanging out with Jamie and Case that they have a lot of fun together and love each other deeply. It was truly an honor to be there to witness this joyful union.

Andrew and Jenn: Smog Shoppe Wedding Photographer, Los Angeles, CA

Andrew and Jenn’s wedding was truly inspiring. Everyone withstood the triple digit temperatures with a smile on their face. These two have been together a looong time and everyone was so very excited to see them finally tie the knot. They had their reception at the Smog Shoppe in Culver City which has more style and elegance than you could ever ask for. Not to mention they added their own fabulous touches to the event. Jenn had two fabulous wedding gowns, the second being a surprise for her groom. We had such a great time photographing these two and their whole beautiful bridal party who were such good sports. We are so happy Andrew and Jenn found us and trusted up to capture this beautiful memory for them.

Michelle and Keith: Mammoth Mountain Wedding Photographer, Hayden Cabin

Mammoth holds a special place in our hearts. We both have a lot of early memories of being there with our family and friends. The mountains always seem to have such a draw on us. When Michelle and Keith asked us to photograph their wedding in Mammoth we were ecstatic. Being able to photograph two awesome people in a place this stunning is really what we’re all about. All of their guests were so extremely happy to see these two come together and the feeling was contagious. Their wedding was full of heartfelt toasts, an abundance of tears, and some killer dance moves. Enjoy.
