Jerry and Desiree: Limoneira Ranch Wedding, Santa Paula, CA

Jerry and Desiree’s wedding was pretty special for us. I grew up knowing Jerry and I couldn’t be happier that he found such an amazing woman to spend his life with. Their day was filled with so much laughter and excitement it was enough to get these wedding photographers really excited. It also didn’t hurt that they held their wedding at the amazing Limoneira lemon factory. The anticipation we could see in Jerry and Desiree really reminded us of our wedding almost 5 years ago now! It was so much fun to witness their love and catch up with a lot of great friends. We’re so excited for them to start their new life together.

David and Alaina’s Wedding: Mitten Building, Redlands, California

There’s something really special about getting married during the holiday season. Amidst the busyness of Christmas and all that it entails, it was wonderful to take a step back and see David and Alaina, two people we’ve really enjoyed getting to know, commit their lives to one another – talk about the true meaning of joy! These two said their vows at the historic Mitten building in Redlands. A new venue for us that we absolutely fell in love with! We’re so happy for David and Alaina and can’t wait to see where their life and love leads them.

Mike and Jenny – Engagement Photos, Scary Dairy, Camarillo, CA

Mike and Jenny are what you might call rad. They asked us if we’d be down to do their engagement photos at Scary Dairy – a place that is infamously haunted and generally really cool and freaky looking. We obviously said yes. Although we didn’t see any paranormal activity, Mike and Jenny seem to be abnormally in love with each other…if that’s a thing. Anyway, here’s Mike and Jenny exploring the unknown. We can’t wait for their wedding in January!

Brian and Amanda – Engagement Session, The Stonehaus Winery, Westlake Village, California

Brian and Amanda were a blast to spend the afternoon with. They’re both extremely in love and fun to hangout with. One of the huge perks of this job is making new friends like these two. For their engagement session, we decided to start out at the location of their first date: Stonehaus Winery and Vineyards. We drank some seriously tasty wine and basked in the sunshine. We ended up the afternoon exploring the hills in the gathering dusk. Much laughter and enjoyment ensued. Good times if you ask me.

Brooke Borough: Portraits, headshots, Kappen Photography, Ventura, California

Brooke Borough popped into our lives in Las Vegas one day at a photographer conference. She wasn’t a Borough yet and we weren’t aware then how she would become part of our lives.  Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of discovering what a talented, rich, bubbly soul she is and can now call her and her husband Zack some very great friends.  We were kinda like kids on a playground taking her portraits. She isn’t used to be on the other side of the camera but she did great. Check out her work: projectpoiema.com

Erica and Gino – Big Sur Destination Wedding Photographer, Elopement, Carmel, California

I can’t tell you how much of an honor it is to photograph weddings. I’ve worked a lot of jobs where it seemed like the work I did didn’t really matter or have any lasting impact. I could go home at the end of the day not really be affected by what I had done or seen. This is not the case with wedding photography – it touches me to the core. We get let in on some of the most vulnerable and beautiful moments in peoples’ lives and our job is to memorialize those moments forever. It seems high and lofty but really, it is. Weddings are a pivotal point in people’s lives. It’s choice to no longer live for your self but to willingly give your life for another person. This decision deserves a lot of forethought and is also cause for serious celebration. When Erica and Gino told us they were planning on getting married on the cliffs of Big Sur and wanted us to be their photographers, we pretty much freaked out. Erica and Gino are some of the nicest and warmest people we’ve ever known and we’ve ALWAYS wanted to photograph on the Big Sur Cliffs. Basically dream come true. Emily and I, along with a total of 8 guests, were invited to spend the weekend in Carmel to celebrate this gorgeous union. The actual ceremony was like something out of a fairy tale. Erica and Gino said their vows overlooking the mighty Pacific and surrounded by only their closest friends and family. When the knot was officially tied, and the champagne was consumed, the 4 of us climbed down the cliffs to play in the golden light. To top the night off, we all went to celebrate at Casanova, a European style cafe where the menu is dictated by the current produce in the chef’s personal garden. Let me just say, the food was amazing and the company even better. Congratulations Erica and Gino! You guys are the raddest and your wedding was seriously stunning.

Jon and Savannah’s Wedding: Secret Garden, Moorpark, CA

These two have something seriously special together. We were so stoked when they asked us to shoot their wedding. Its hard to describe a life-changing event in just a few words. But we will tell you that this is one of those wedding that reminds Peter and I of all the reasons we got married. Jon and Savannah had a lot of love surrounding them in the secret garden where they got married. Here’s a little bit of what their day looked like.

Kyle and Kelly: engagement photos, Avalon, Catalina Island, CA

The day we spent with Kelly and Kyle on Catalina Island goes down in the books as one of the most epic engagement sessions we’ve ever done. Catalina is about an hour by boat from Los Angeles but feels like a world away. Kyle grew up on the island and Kelly has family from there as well…crazy coincidence since there’s only about four thousand people on the island. Clearly they were meant to find each other.

Kyle’s parents picked us up in their awesome 1960s Volkswagon bus and drove us all over the island on roads that are only accessible to locals. When we got to the other side of the island, we watched a tall ship (or a pirate ship according to Emily) anchor as the last bit of sunlight streamed through the low clouds and made dazzling patterns on the Pacific. Magic.

We can’t wait to get our film back from this shoot and will probably be sharing more photos once we do. Also soon to come: Kelly and Kyle’s intimate wedding on a Malibu mountaintop!

Jamie and Jessica: Engagement Photos, Santa Barbara Courthouse, Isla Vista, CA

This was a super fun engagement session. Jamie and Jessica came down from the San Francisco area to spend an afternoon with us in Santa Barbara. It was so fun to get to know them and hear about how their relationship started out 12 years ago when they were students at UC Santa Barbara. We explored the grounds of an awesome courthouse and then finished up on the coast right in front of the dorm where it all started. The circle of life? Maybe.
