Natalia and Bobby: San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, Destination Wedding Photographer

So we met these two amazing people, Natalia and Bobby, when they asked us to take their engagement photos early this year in Joshua Tree. After an epic time scrambling around rock formations and hiking through the desert, we came away with a new friendship. In November, we had the honor of traveling to the town of San Miguel de Allende, near Mexico City to photograph their wedding. Two days before they actually tied the knot, they lead a processional of their wedding guests accompanied by huge dancing puppets, a mariachi band, and a sweet but skittish donkey through the streets of the historic town. Photographing these two around the gorgeous walls and scenes of San Miguel was an unforgettable experience. We really hope to return someday and reminisce…and maybe have a few tequila shots in Bobby and Natalia’s honor. So, we haven’t blogged for a while and consiquently weren’t too good at whittling down this post so…I guess what we mean to say is enjoy and get comfy!

Ken and Amber: Santa Barbara Wedding Photographer, Funk Zone, Courthouse

Ken and Amber are some of the kindest people we have had the pleasure of photographing. We got to spend a few relaxing hours with the two of them taking photos around Santa Barbara and exploring the Funk Zone. They had friends travel from across the world to be there to witness their love for each other. All in all it was a pretty amazing day. Here are a few of our favorite images from Ken and Amber’s big day.

Josh and Mia: Omni Resort and Spa, Barton Springs, Austin, Texas – Destination Wedding Photographer

We met Josh at a wedding we photosgraphed in Portland about 3 years ago. When he first met us, he said that if he ever got married he wanted us to photograph his wedding. The day finally came where he was going to proclaim his vows to Mia and so he called us. I must say, it made us feel pretty special. So we packed up our camper and trekked ourselves out to Austin, TX to party with Josh and Mia at the Omni Resort and Spa, Barton Springs.

These two and their beautiful daughter, Eloise, have formed a beautiful little family that is truly supported and loved by all those around them. Peter and I had a bit too much fun photographing with the stormy Texas skies (we get a little tired of So Cal Sunshine) – also, Josh and Mia both have a smolder that can seriously light a fire in your camera lens. Beware. These Austin folks were great at celebrating. I’m not sure if it was the mac-and-chese bar, the glow sticks, or the funky vibes of the killer live band but the party was definitely going strong all night.

We felt so very honored to be at this wedding and we can’t thank the bride and groom and their sweet families enough. They welcomed us with open arms and so much happiness. Enjoy the photos!

Buddy and Priscilla: Santa Barbara Wedding Photographer, Courthouse, Elopement, Civil Ceremony

There are a lot of moments as a wedding photographers where we get let in on moments so special and intimate it almost seems like we shouldn’t be there. This was definitely the case with Buddy and Priscilla. They decided to elope at the (stunning) Santa Barbara courthouse and tell their friends and family later. We were the only witnesses and really the only ones (besides the court clerk) who can even verify that it happened. Well let me tell you: Buddy and Priscilla got married and here is the photographic proof. It was such an honor to be there to witness their union we and wish them all the best in their life together. Thanks to our good friend Jenn for the amazing flowers – she kills it. Enjoy!

Amanda and Ryan: Palm Springs Wedding Photographer, Ace Hotel and Swim Club

Amanda and Ryan brought their family, friends, and party faces out to the magical Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. This wedding had so much style and it was beautifully pulled off by an amazing team of artists who made the day feel effortless: floral designs by Dainty Lion, rentals by Witty Rentals, hair and makeup by Amy Clarke, and planning by Beau and Arrow Events. Amanda designed her own dress because she is basically a fashion genius and as you can tell from his smolder, Ryan is a man among men. The party was an absolute blast thanks to tunes spun by the Flashdance and to all the guests who know how to get down. The night was topped off with a glorious polar bear dip in the pool – couldn’t have thought of a better ending ourselves.

Nohea and Cameron: Destination Wedding Photography, Paso Robles, CA, Cellar 360

We were so happy to finally meet Cameron and Nohea on their wedding day. They are some of the most genuine, joy-filled people you’ll find. They brought people all the way from Hawaii and New York to share in their wedding day in Paso Robles, CA. Their joy was so obviously contagious to those around them. We spent a good amount of time frolicking with these two in the grape vines at Cellar 360 during sunset. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a Saturday.

Cheers!

Erica and Gino – Big Sur Destination Wedding Photographer, Elopement, Carmel, California

I can’t tell you how much of an honor it is to photograph weddings. I’ve worked a lot of jobs where it seemed like the work I did didn’t really matter or have any lasting impact. I could go home at the end of the day not really be affected by what I had done or seen. This is not the case with wedding photography – it touches me to the core. We get let in on some of the most vulnerable and beautiful moments in peoples’ lives and our job is to memorialize those moments forever. It seems high and lofty but really, it is. Weddings are a pivotal point in people’s lives. It’s choice to no longer live for your self but to willingly give your life for another person. This decision deserves a lot of forethought and is also cause for serious celebration. When Erica and Gino told us they were planning on getting married on the cliffs of Big Sur and wanted us to be their photographers, we pretty much freaked out. Erica and Gino are some of the nicest and warmest people we’ve ever known and we’ve ALWAYS wanted to photograph on the Big Sur Cliffs. Basically dream come true. Emily and I, along with a total of 8 guests, were invited to spend the weekend in Carmel to celebrate this gorgeous union. The actual ceremony was like something out of a fairy tale. Erica and Gino said their vows overlooking the mighty Pacific and surrounded by only their closest friends and family. When the knot was officially tied, and the champagne was consumed, the 4 of us climbed down the cliffs to play in the golden light. To top the night off, we all went to celebrate at Casanova, a European style cafe where the menu is dictated by the current produce in the chef’s personal garden. Let me just say, the food was amazing and the company even better. Congratulations Erica and Gino! You guys are the raddest and your wedding was seriously stunning.

Albert and Kelly: Destination Wedding Photographer, Ayana Resort, Bali, Indonesia,

Words seem to fail us as we sit down to write about Albert and Kelly’s wedding. How can we possibly describe the thankfulness, joy, and excitement we experienced at traveling half-way across the world to witness such a beautiful event. Kelly and Albert threw the celebration of a lifetime for their enthusiastic and supportive family and friends. The wedding took place at the beautiful Ayana resort in Bali. They said their vows overlooking the sparkling Indian Ocean. There were fire dancers, fireworks, live music, and plenty of freely-flowing champagne. Kelly and Albert deserved every bit of the attention and excitement. We feel honored to have met these two awesome humans and can’t wait to continue our relationship with them as well as so many of the great people we met through them.

Jessica and Jamie: Destination Wedding Photography, Santa Barbara, Cabrillo Arts Center

Jessica and Jamie really know how to celebrate. Their wedding wedding was far from typical. On Friday night they gathered with a handful of their closest friends and family and spent the evening riding through Santa Barbara in a trolley and completed the night at the Wine Cask for a beautiful dinner. The next day, they threw a party for 200 more friends at the beach. Unbeknownst to the guests, Jessica and Jamie had arranged to have a judge marry them on the sand in front of the Cabrillo so they could still have a private wedding while their friends watched. You could definitely tell by the way this group celebrated that Jessica and Jamie have a whole lot of supportive friends. At about 11pm, everyone took shots. We took shots of the shots.

Kelly and Kyle’s Wedding – Malibu, California

First off, we apologize to all of you who have your face blown off by this uber-long, super epic blog post. It was completely out of our control. We were just too excited about too many photos. If you make it to the bottom you will be rewarded with some ol’ timey film photos. Kyle and Kelly’s wedding was such an amazing event to be a part of. They invited 25 of their closest family and friends to a rad house on a mountaintop in Malibu. Awesomeness proceeded. We felt truly blessed to have been a part of such special and intimate moments and we know that these two amazing humans have a love that will last them a lifetime.

Kelly and Kyle really like the look and feel of film and asked that we use some at their wedding. Um…..yes. Enjoy!
